Founded over 90 years ago, National Council for the Blind of Ireland (NCBI), is Ireland’s national sight loss agency. The organisation’s mission is to transform the lives of individuals who are blind or vision impaired. Offering timely information and support as well as the relevant technology and innovative programmes, NCBI works with adults and children all over Ireland.

The Accessible Secure Web Development Challenge

Aware that technology is the single biggest enabler for individuals with sight loss, NCBI wanted to design a website that was visually appealing, with enterprise-level technology whilst meeting the highest standards of accessibility. Moreover, the organisation was eager to utilise technology that is typically only available to enterprises and private sector customers. Cognisant that this was a tall order, NCBI began searching for a company that could fulfil its complex technological as well as design requirements.

The Accessible Secure Web Development Solution

NCBI engaged Stryve to design its new secure website. Stryve not only met but exceeded expectations by designing a website that is fully interactive and visually appealing. Moreover, NCBI’s new website is easy to navigate with functionality including full e-commerce store, donations, SalesForce integration and a brand new myNCBI feature allowing the organisation’s service users personalised access to their information. Although it was challenging to deliver a visually attractive website so rich in functionality whilst also adhering to very strict AAA accessibility guidelines, through weekly meetings and collaboration with NCBI during the lifetime of the project, Stryve was able to ensure that all of its needs were met.

“It was great working with Stryve’s team to launch the brand new website. As CTO I wanted to showcase technology that is typically only available to enterprises and private sector customers.
