Carlow GAA

Carlow GAA is a non-profit organisation responsible for the coordination and administration of Ireland’s national GAA games in County Carlow. Carlow GAA comprises a group of volunteers that fundraise, organise games and host competitions across the county.

The Secure Web Development Challenge
Throughout 2019, Carlow GAA experienced several issues with its website. There was a change in the backend integration of the website with the national database of GAA fixtures and results. This caused a technical issue that resulted in the public not having real-time access to fixtures, results or tables for competitions. Like many non-profit organisations, Carlow GAA’s website also did not have the latest cybersecurity measures in place which left it vulnerable to attack.
The Secure Web Development Solution
Stryve agreed to take over the support and hosting of Carlow GAA’s website ensuring the county had a secure website. We moved the site into Stryve’s secure hosting environment and locked down the code. This alleviated several of the security threats the website had faced and ensured that the site could not be compromised. Stryve then restored the link between Carlow GAA and the national database of GAA fixtures and results allowing the public to regain access to essential information.

“Carlow GAA had been experiencing major structural and security issues with its website recently and needed to urgently find solutions to these problems. To have a company such as Stryve in our own County who are technically skilled was a huge positive for Carlow GAA. The very high level of one to one support provided by the staff at Stryve allowed us to quickly address our issues and work towards creating a reliable & secure website. The increased peace of mind for those working in our organisation now with a new, stable & user friendly website is of immeasurable value to our volunteers whose time is so precious. The follow on support offered by the company will also benefit us well into the future. We would have no hesitation in recommending Stryve to any organisation hoping to improve their website or make advances in the now crucial area of cyber security.”
